Okanagan Tapestry 16” x 22” pen & ink on paper 2011
Having never seen large scale commercial Orchards before the Spring of 1971, I was amazed at the symmetry of the Orchards seeing them for the first time. While driving though Penticton, Kelowna and Winfield on my way to Vernon, I saw hundreds, if not thousands of trees planted in neat, easily managed rows. As the season progressed I would see the trees become loaded with fruit of all kinds setting the different orchards apart from one another. A Tapestry if you will.
”Okanagan Tapestry” is based on my first impressions of those neatly planted Orchards in the Okanagan Valley.
