    Looking Through Branches 6 16” x 20” pen & ink on paper 2006 Our main purpose in the Design Branch of Highways was to do feasibility studies for new highway locations. In fact, when I first started out, the Branch was called “ Location Branch. “ We travelled all over the Province doing what we did. Lot’s of our work was in relatively untouched forest areas close to existing highways or where no roads existed at all. We had to stake, or locate a new centerline and then do our cost estimates based on that centerline location. We were always cutting bush, clearing it off line, looking into it, over it, above it or looking through it. The branches series of work comes from those experiences at work. |
